Videos, hands on lessons, and integrated learning inspire a passion for learning ELA and Math Skills through the lens of science!
As an increasing number of schools are facing extended suspensions of in-person learning, teachers are working to craft realistic, yet meaningful distance learning experiences for their students.  We're taking the following steps to support both exiting subscribers and new users:
  1. We’ll provide “Safe YouTube” links to each of the Borneo Field Videos and Livestream Archives weekly as the mission unfolds.  This allows you to share those links with families so kids can watch at home while you direct the mission by sharing the lessons and integrations you choose.
  2. If you livestream on behalf of your class with questions they’ve submitted ahead of time, shoot us an email after your session stating the time you joined us and we can share a direct link to your archived session.
  3. You have our permission to copy and paste text from our lessons to share the portions you deem just right for your students with their parents using whatever communication channels you have established.  You are also free to make a digital copy of the pdf lessons and delete selected pages so you can share printable pages with families.
  4. PLUS, We are making all of our resources for the next 8 weeks free (the entire Borneo mission) so that families can join us directly.  We do reserve the right to limit their ability to ask questions during livestream in the event of a HUGE response.  We want our subscribers to have priority.  Of course, we can not control HOW a family uses the mission materials so if you want to direct the outcomes closely, this may not be the best option for you.
  5. In addition to our weekly newsletter during the upcoming mission, we'll also be hosting weekly video conferences.  These are an opportunity for teachers to share strategies and for us to give support for each upcoming week.

The hypothesis for this mission is that forests with larger trees have more biodiversity than forests with smaller trees.  They’ll be ample opportunities to use photos we provide to track the diversity we’ll see.  There are hands on lessons in the works that can be implemented at home with readily available materials.  Some lessons will even work best outside in the fresh air.

We will have lessons to you no later than the end of March.  Our first pre-mission email with supplemental materials should be in your inbox on April 2.  Our first livestream date is April 7th.  The last livestream is scheduled for May 14th.  We may adjust the times or numbers of live sessions depending on your needs.

All the best,
Beth and Curtis
